How did the idea for TogenTok begin?
It all started while I was watching a crypto influencer called CryptoChickon TikTok.
She had posted a video where she appeared anxious and unsettled about the uncertain future of this major social media platform in the U.S.
There were talks of TikTok being shut down — and CryptoChick was in distress.
“This is my life! What will happen to my community?”
She looked desperate and spoke passionately, saying someone should just buy the platform:
“Where are the millionaires? Someone please buy it already!”
That moment stopped me in my tracks. I genuinely felt her fear and concern for her community.
That’s when the idea hit me — “What if TikTok was tokenized?”
At first, it felt like a joke — a cheeky thought.
…But then, it started to feel like a real opportunity.
“Why not?”
Why couldn’t a community have ownership, influence, and real participation in the platform they help build by spending time, creating, and sharing?
That’s how the idea was born:
A platform where everyone could own a piece of the community and have a say in its direction and development.
A place where participation earns real rewards — not just empty views.
No threats of shutdown. No arbitrary decisions.
A platform governed by a DAO– where the community decides.
And maybe, someday, over 2 billion people will co-own it.
At first, the project was called TokenTok, but over time it evolved into its own brand: TogenTok.
To support the broader vision and scalability, we imagined a parent company: TogenWeb3.
The name TogenTok was chosen intentionally.
TogenTok is softer, more original, and more distinctive than the original suggestion. It carries a new kind of meaning:
